LAKE LEELANAU – “A gorgeous tasting room, fabulous staff and great wines,” said a visitor about the new tasting room that opened this month at Blustone Vineyards in Lake Leelanau.

The opening of the new facility is yet another highly anticipated milestone for the 40-acre family-owned vineyard whose wines have already received top honors in international competitions.  “We’re very excited to be introducing Blustone to so many new friends, and are encouraged by their response to our new tasting room and to our wines,” said owner Tom Knighton.  According to Knighton, more than 800 people visited Blustone’s new tasting room during the November opening which was part of the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association’s “Toast the Season” event. Those who have yet to visit should be prepared for a pleasant surprise – the clean, minimalist lines and simple, elegant décor paired with vast, tranquil views across hillside vineyards afforded by floor-to-ceiling windows make for a truly memorable experience.

“We wanted to blur the lines between the outdoors and indoors,” said Knighton, whose architect, André LaTondresse of Minneapolis, also designed the Knightons’ home on Lake Michigan, north of Leland.
